Mazda adds a new addition to the CX-5 family

The Mazda CX5 first got introduced to us in 2011 and has since become a household name for the brand. The compact crossover SUV has scooped up awards worldwide with many considering it to best one of the best premium compact SUV’s on the market. To ensure that the Mazda CX-5 stays dominating its segment, Mazda has added a new addition to the family. Mazda kicked off 2021 with the all-new Mazda CX5 2.0-litre Carbon Edition FWD. This model will come as an alternative option to the rest of the CX-5 2.0-litre range and will offer a much sportier look than its standard models.

Craig Roberts, Managing Director of Mazda Southern Africa says ‘The Mazda CX-5 is still an appealing SUV with its exterior styling, comfortable and pleasing interior, and the many standard features it offers. We have added the Carbon Edition to subtlety enhance the style of this SUV further, whilst retaining its outstanding balance of ride and handling.’

The Carbon Edition will keep its standard 2.0-litre SKYACTIV-G engine and will produce 121kW of power and 213Nm of torque. This will all be powered with an automatic transmission. The 2.0L Carbon Edition FWD will be a replacement model for the outgoing 2.0L Individual Auto FWD.

In terms of changes, the Carbon Edition does get many in terms of exterior and interior. The outside features some stylish sporty elements such as glossy black exterior mirrors and 19” black metallic alloy wheels. The inside of the cabin features black film on both the dashboard and door panels, as well as red stitching on the steering wheel, gear lever, knee pads, and seats. The seats are made from a leather and suede combination seat trim, which further emphasizes the Carbon Edition’s sports influenced style. The Carbon Edition will come in six colour choices ranging from Snowflake White Pearl. Sonic Silver, Machine Grey, Soul Red Crystal, Polymetal Grey, and Jet Black.

The Mazda CX-5 2.0L Carbon Edition is currently available in dealership across South Africa and will retail at R565,800. It will come standard with a 3-year unlimited kilometre service plan.
