The Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI specifications finally get revealed

South Africans can expect the highly anticipated Volkswagens Golf 8 GTI to hit our local market in the second quarter of this year. The seventh-generation Golf GTI has already sold 14 252 units in SA alone, making us one of the biggest Golf GTI markets outside of Europe. It seems that locals can never get enough of the Golf GTI nameplate, and after hearing its eight-generation specifications, we are likely to see petrol heads flocking to Volkswagen dealerships to get a piece of this hot hatch.

In terms of power, the Golf 8 GTI will be 11kW more powerful than its predecessor. It will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine and will produce an impressive 180kW and 370 Nm of torque. As well as four metallic colours - Dolphin Grey, Atlantic Blue, Kings Red, and Reflex Silver, and two pearlescent colours - Deep Black Pearl and Oryx White Pearl.

Volkswagen has yet to unveil the pricing for the Golf 8 GTI. The current Golf 7 GTI retails at R689 200, so we can only assume that its price tag will sit slightly above this. Whether this figure is accurate or not, we will have to wait till later this year to find out.
