BMW M Heritage Edition Celebrates 47-Years of Sideways
With the current BMW M4 getting closer and closer to the end of its life cycle, BMW has decided to use it as the base of their latest special edition model, the M Heritage Edition, which will be limited to just 750 examples across the world, with 10 of them headed to South Africa.
The BMW M4 M Heritage Edition is based on the M4 Competition Package, featuring a twin-turbocharged straight-six 3.0-litre engine, sending 331kW of power and 550Nm of torque to the rear wheels. The Competition Pack takes performance a step ahead with the addition of a revised suspension, differential and stability control. The special edition will be available exclusively in coupe guise, with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or 7-speed Dual Clutch transmission.
The special edition M4 also incorporates a host of exclusive touches all around the car. For starters, there are only three exterior colours available on the M Heritage Edition; Laguna Seca Blue, Velvet Blue and Imola Red. Avid BMW enthusiasts will know that these are also the three signature M colours. The carbon fibre reinforced plastic roof features an exclusive M colour stripe running across the length and there is also a set of grey 20-inch Competition Pack wheels that are standard across the range.
Inside, the M Heritage Edition features lightweight M Sport seats with custom detailing based on the exterior colour. The Laguna Seca Blue model features silver and black with turquoise stitching, the Velvet Blue model with silver and black with blue stitching and the Imola Red model with red and black with red stitching. The interior carbon fibre trim also incorporates the M colours in its design, while the seat headrests and doorsills feature the special edition logos.
