Launched two years ago, the UX compact SUV range has been bolstered with the addition of an F Sport derivative, which gives the luxury crossover a unique, sportier look.
UX F Sport models boast LED headlamps as standard, with a unique L-shaped daytime running lamp. The trim level also receives an exclusive radiator grille design, which features a mesh pattern and “individual elements that gradually change in shape as they radiate out from the central Lexus emblem,” says Lexus.
Adding to the more dynamic look is the unique front and rear bumpers, jet black trim and unique alloy wheels. Lexus notes the UX is the first vehicle from the brand to use the Global Architecture - Compact (GA-C) platform which is a lightweight structure with a low centre of gravity. F Sport trim levels receive a sportier driving character, says the brand.
This includes unique springs and stabiliser bars, plus a rear performance damper. The unique alloy wheels are 19-inch aluminium which are more rigid than the regular wheels and aid in handling agility and responsiveness. First seen on the flagship LC and LS models, the UX F Sport derivative features a tailored version of Adaptive Variable Suspension. This increases damping force to lessen body roll when cornering and “reduces damping force in straight-line driving to preserve ride quality.”
Inside, the F Sport cabin boasts sport seats up front, with a leather-trimmed, model-specific steering wheel, shift knob and aluminium pedals. “The digitally-rendered instrument meter features a movable virtual ring inspired by the Lexus LFA supercar,” notes the manufacturer.
Safety wise, the UX impresses, with eight airbags standard across the entire range. F Sport models receive the brand’s Safety System as standard, with adaptive cruise control, pre-crash system, blind spot monitor and lane-keep assist, to name a few features.
The range kicks off from R745 100 for the Hybrid EX, R824 000 for the 250h SE and R874 800 for the Hybrid F Sport. A great inclusion is the seven year/105 000 km warranty and maintenance plan.
