For 2022, Land Rover South Africa has elected to bolster the popular Discovery Sport range with an array of limited edition models.

Based on the R-Dynamic models, the special edition receives unique touches to help it stand out from conventional models. This includes shadow aluminium finishers, Luxtec Suedecloth seats (non-leather), with a black contrast roof finishing everything off nicely. Five colours are available - Hakuba Silver, Ostuni White, Carpathian Grey, Santorini Black and Firenze Red.

Luxury features include a powered tailgate and Land Rover's revolutionary ClearSight rear view mirror.

Engine options mirror those offered in the Evoque, with a 2.0-litre turbodiesel and petrol available. Both utilise an eight-speed automatic transmission; the turbodiesel (D200) producing 147 kW and 430 Nm of torque. Land Rover claims a 0-100 km/h time of 8.6 seconds. The more powerful P250 petrol (with 183 kW and 365 Nm) hits 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds.

The third powertrain option is a unique plug-in hybrid model which, says Land Rover, can emit emissions as low as 48g/km. Fitted with a three-cylinder, 1.5-litre engine, it is combined with an 80 kW electric motor. This provides good economy and performance, with 0-100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds, while fuel economy is as low as 1.5 L/100 km.

The line-up is as follows:

2.0 diesel 147kW R-Dynamic SE

2.0 diesel 147kW R-Dynamic HSE

2.0 diesel 147kW Urban Edition

2.0 petrol 183kW R-Dynamic SE

2.0 petrol 183kW R-Dynamic HSE
