Defender Launches 2024 Rally Series with an impressive Line-Up

Defender has officially announced the kick-off for its 2024 Rally Series, setting the stage for an electrifying start to the UK championship on March 2. This year, the Defender Rally Series UK is poised to host its largest competitive field ever, featuring up to 16 dynamic driver and co-driver pairings for each event. Bridging the gap between novice enthusiasts and seasoned professionals, this series stands out as the UK's leading one-make off-road motorsport championship, already seeing a high demand for applications for the 2025 season.

The 2024 season brings together a diverse group of competitors, ranging from beginners and track-day aficionados to adept circuit and off-road racers. Participants will have the opportunity to enhance their skills with expert driver coaching and robust works support throughout the series. Each competitor will pilot a specially tailored Defender 90, sporting a distinctive 2024 championship livery, personalized with a vibrant statement color complemented by a signature black pattern.

Mark Cameron, Managing Director of Defender and Discovery, expressed his enthusiasm for the series: "The Defender Rally Series showcases our highly capable all-terrain vehicles in some of the most challenging environments. Embracing the spirit of adventure inherent in our brand, competitors will tackle a series of demanding challenges in the new Defender 90, highlighting the vehicle's and crew's resilience. We are thrilled to lead the way in this exhilarating off-road championship."

The rally-ready Defenders, closely aligned with the P300 production models, are equipped with enhanced safety features like race-specification seats, an FIA-approved roll cage, and fire extinguishers. They harness a powerful 300PS Ingenium petrol engine, an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox, and an advanced All-Wheel Drive system identical to those in showroom models. Bowler, an expert team, oversees all mechanical enhancements, rally support, competition entries, and vehicle logistics.

The series, now in its third year, consists of seven rounds and kicks off with a unique Defender event at Walters Arena in Wales. Designed to both challenge and entertain, each round aims to hone competitors' skills in a tightly contested field, catering to both rally novices and veterans aspiring to higher-level competitions.

Calum McKechnie, General Manager at Bowler Motors, highlighted the series' expansion: "The 2024 Defender Rally Series is our most ambitious yet. It offers participants a chance to push Defender vehicles to their limits across the UK's most challenging rally terrains. With the combination of Bowler's expertise and the engineering integrity of showroom models, drivers are assured of the ultimate off-road racing experience."

Notably, the series will feature high-profile competitors like Shane Lynch, former Boyzone member, and Vanessa Ruck, an accomplished adventure motorcycle racer and content creator. Ruck, who finished fourth in the 2023 UK Championship with multiple podium finishes, is set to compete in the European Baja Championship this year.

In addition to the UK series, participants can look forward to international events in 2024, including the Defender Rally Series European Baja Championship and the exclusive Balkan Rally-Raid Experience. These events promise over 500km of competitive driving, marking an adventurous year for Defender Rally Series competitors.
