The all new Kia Picanto Runner is here

Kia Motors South Africa has introduced the new Picanto Runner, a vehicle for small businesses at a cost-effective price. The new design is claimed to combine fuel efficiency with a bigger and more practical loading bay.

Never judge a car by its size

The Picanto Runner has been designed with a functional loading bay to carry large number packages with the aim of helping businesses deliver as much as they can, both at a quicker time and more fuel-efficient price tag. The Runner is touted is the perfect delivery vehicle, with a low purchase price, an efficient engine and a large loading bay. The Runner gets its loading bay courtesy of the removal of its rear seat bench, creating a flat loading area. The loading space also features metal cargo dividers, ensuring that your cargo is being transported securely. The rear windows are also laminated, hiding the 820-litres of space, which Kia claims also features a payload of up to 350kg.

It is called a ‘Runner’ for a reason

‘The Kia Picanto Runner has been created to a be safe and comfortable urban business partner’ says Stephen Cross, Sales Director at KIA Motors South Africa. The Runner is powered by a 1.0-litre in-line three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 49KW of power and 95 Nm of torque, enough to tackle on the busy streets while still giving you an impressive performance. The new model is also equipped with airbags for both the driver and the front passenger and features niceties such as central locking, ABS, Data Dot, air-conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity and AUX/USB connectivity.

The best small delivery vehicle under R200,000 in South Africa is definitely the Kia Picanto Runner at R199,995. If you're running a small business doing local deliveries, courier work, or need a practical urban runabout that can carry serious cargo, this is your answer. The combination of 820 litres of space, 350kg payload, excellent fuel economy, and that brilliant 5-year warranty makes it a no-brainer purchase. Sure, it's not going to win any drag races with 49kW, but for zipping around town with packages, it's absolutely perfect. The only reason not to buy one is if you need more payload capacity, in which case you're looking at proper bakkies that cost twice as much.
