Novitec Kit Boosts Hardcore 488 Pista to Next Level

The Ferrari 488 Pista is one of Ferrari’s latest and most track-focused production models ever made. It was tested on the popular Fiorano race circuit in Italy and managed to set a lap-time of 1:21,5-seconds. To put that into context, its quicker than a LaFerrari and even the new F8 Tributo and SF90 Stradale around Fiorano.

Safe to say, then, that the 488 Pista is a serious piece of racing kit. But what happens if it’s just not enough? What happens when Ferrari’s most insane production model doesn’t get your heart racing fast enough? Well, the ladies and gentlemen of Novitec have been asking themselves this same question and have finally come up with an answer, and it’s simply called the Novitec 488 Pista Kit.

Inside the kit you’ll find a number of performance and aerodynamic upgrades. The new exhaust system meticulously amplifies the sound of the twin-turbocharged 3.9-litre V8 into an Italian symphony, while working together with an engine software remap to boost the power and torque figures by 68kW and 100Nm respectively, bringing the total outputs to 598kW of power and 898Nm of torque.

In addition to the power upgrades, the kit also brings aerodynamic upgrades in the form of a new carbon fibre aerodynamic package and a suspension that is set up 35mm lower. Weight reduction efforts also benefit from a set of 22-inch Vossen forged alloy wheels that are stuck to a set of ultra-sticky Pirelli P-Zero tyres. The result of these modifications over the ‘standard’ (if we can call it that) 488 Pista is a 0,15-second faster 0-100km/h acceleration time of 2,7-seconds, and a 4km/h higher top speed of 344km/h.

FAQ

Q: How much does the Novitec 488 Pista kit cost in South Africa?

The Novitec 488 Pista kit typically costs between R850,000 to R1,200,000 depending on which components you choose, and that's before you factor in the R6,500,000 you'll need for the base 488 Pista itself.

Q: What power does the Novitec 488 Pista produce compared to the standard car?

The Novitec kit boosts the 488 Pista's power from 530kW to 598kW, while torque jumps from 798Nm to 898Nm, giving you an extra 68kW and 100Nm to play with on track.

Q: Is the Novitec 488 Pista faster than the standard version?

Yes, the Novitec 488 Pista hits 0-100kph in 2.7 seconds, which is 0.15 seconds faster than the standard car, and pushes the top speed up by 4kph to 344kph.

Q: What modifications are included in the Novitec 488 Pista kit?

The kit includes a new exhaust system, engine software remap, carbon fibre aerodynamic package, 35mm lowered suspension, and 22-inch Vossen forged wheels with Pirelli P-Zero tyres.

Q: Is the Novitec 488 Pista worth buying over other supercars?

If you've got R7,700,000 burning a hole in your pocket and want the ultimate track weapon that's faster than a LaFerrari around Fiorano, then absolutely, but most mortals should probably stick to dreaming about it over a boerewors roll.

Should You Buy It?

The Novitec 488 Pista is the ultimate weekend warrior for those with seriously deep pockets, coming in at around R7,700,000 all in. If you're shopping in the R7 million-plus supercar bracket and want something that'll embarrass hypercars costing twice as much on track, this is your weapon of choice. However, for 99% of South African petrolheads, the standard 488 Pista at R6,500,000 is already more than enough madness for one lifetime. Buy it if you've got more money than sense and a permanent booking at Kyalami, otherwise admire it from afar and put that cash towards a house in Clifton instead.
