A car for all ages, offering both versatility and performance, The STs turbocharged 2.0litre four-cylinder provides straight power for its front-wheel drive setup. The performance version of the Focus four-door hatchback delivers 252 hp and is a fun vehicle on the roads

For day-to-day driving , the ST3 offers joy and convenience. Suspension of the vehicle is firm, but other than 1 or 2 other hatchbacks of similar class, its the best riding performance hatchback on the market. The engine is fairly quiet, however does make itself heard during harder acceleration.

Handling of the vehicle is a bit wayward at times and could possibly be put down to the fine-tuning of the electric-assist power steering and differential control. Handling of the vehicle can some times feel delayed and out of sync. This is possibly due to the unique electronic assistance element additional in the drive shaft of the vehicle.
Off the line, the ST3 struggles with traction. Combined with its 1300kg road weighting, it can be a bit sluggish off the mark.

The interior of the ST3 is most notably different when comparing to the early generation ST1. The leather Recaro bucket seats offer a sleak finish and race design that ties up the interior really well. While the bucket seats offer that race finish and hold both driver and passenger in good stead during tight cornering, over longer distances the seats do tend to get uncomfortable.

The stock Sony sound system on offer in the ST3 is of good quality and does not compare to the stock Ford sound system found in the ST1 and other Ford models.
The layout of some gauges and controls is a bit complicated and from the cockpit can feel a bit overwhelming, buttons are small and compact and can sometimes lead to pressing of wrong buttons or struggling to find the correct one.

The biggest issue faced with the vehicle is the turning circle (or lack thereof). Turning corners or manouvering through small areas has remained a challenge from the offset. While larger SUVs or double-cab vehicles seemlessly turn in tight spots, the ST3 has shown poor ability turning and often requires a few attempts (3 point turns are luxury when it comes to the Focus ST).

To conclude, while the Ford Focus ST3 does not boast the speeds and power output to similar hatchbacks in her class, the overall drive of the vehicle and aesthetic look makes the Ford Focus ST one of the most affordable sports cars on the market.
