We know that the new Corvette ZR1 is ferociously fast on track, having set the lap record at America's 'Nürburgring', Virginia International Raceway, beating cars like the Porsche 918 Spyder, Mercedes AMG GT R and the new Ford GT in the process.
And finally, Chevrolet have released some basic performance stats in the form of some acceleration figures. According to Harlan Charles, Corvette Product Manager, the ZR1 does 0-96kph in just 2.85 seconds! While 0-160mph takes a Mclaren F1-rivalling 6 seconds. It also completes the 1/4 mile in just 10.6 seconds with an exit speed of 218kph.
Powering the ZR1 is a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 LT5 engine that develops 563kw at 6,300rpm and an immense maximum torque of 969nm at 4,400rpm - all being sent to the rear wheels. It’s available with either a 7-speed manual with active rev match or an 8-speed automatic.
It's expected to reach showrooms in the USA shortly, with a price of up to ZAR 1.8million (US$ 155K).
