Aston Martin's new Vantage has landed in South Africa. The stylish Brit carries a price tag of R2 800 000.

The Vantage has a sporty and an athletic design and has no doubt drawn inspiration from James Bond 007's DB10, but what lurks under its hood is the real talking point. Powering the new Vantage is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine which develops 375kw and 685nm. That motor is a hand-built unit courtesy of Mercedes-AMG.

Yes, the Vantage shares its motor - albeit in a different tune - with the Mercedes-AMG GT. Thanks to Affalterbach's finest, it rockets from 0-100kph in just 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 312kph.

It has a 50:50 weight distribution which should help with the car’s handling, and is paired to a rear-mounted ZF 8-speed automatic transmission and features Dynamic Stability Control and Dynamic Torque Vectoring.

The Vantage will likely compete with the Mercedes-AMG GTS, and the Porsche 911 GTS.
