While Bugatti and Koenigsegg are squabbling over breaking the 450kph (280mph) top speed barrier, Hennessey Performance, with their Venom F5 is aiming much much higher.
The F5 was unveiled last year at The SEMA Show, and has made its first cross continental trip to be displayed at the Geneva International Motor Show, sandwiched by the Bugatti Chiron, and the latest from Koenigsegg.
Unlike the Venom GT, the F5 is a completely bespoke Hennessey Special Vehicles creation. Bossman, John Hennessey says, even though 300mph (approx 480kph) is their target, it’s very possible they will shoot for 500kph!
The car will be powered by a twin-turbo 8.0-litre V8 motor producing 1200kw, but it could gain another pair of turbos in its final form. Just 24 examples of the Venom F5 will be built at Hennessey's Texas facility. Each one will cost a hefty ZAR 19 million (US$1.6 million) – but options could push it well over the ZAR 24 million (US$2 million) mark.
Potential owners will have to apply and be approved by John Hennessey himself prior to taking delivery of the car.
