Introducing the new and luxurious Jaguar XF

The first Jaguar XF was launched back in 2007, and let's just say that Jaguar enthusiasts at the time were taken back by the luxury and modern features that it had. In 2021, Jaguar will give the XF a whole new upgrade, pushing the sedan to new heights.

The new exterior features include a new front bumper with larger and lower air intakes for increased visual width. The wider front grille will feature a mesh design inspired by Jaguar’s heritage logo. On the front, there are new super-slim all-LED quad headlights that come with ‘Double J’ Daytime Running Light. The next-generation Jaguar XF will come with Adaptive Driving Beam capability, which evaluates the road ahead and automatically adapts the high beam light to mask oncoming traffic or traffic signs.

Premium LED technology will also come standard across the range and will be available with Auto High Beam Assist on SE and HSE models. This technology uses the forward-facing camera to automatically switch between high and low beam, ensuring that oncoming drivers are not dazzled. Other design improvements at the rear include a wider bumper and body-coloured rear upper valance. The darkened rear light surrounds will also now feature on the XF.

The R-Dynamic range on the new XF will come with a series of distinct design elements for a sportier look, all models will be available with the additional Black Exterior Pack, which delivers an even more performance-based appearance, these features will be finished in a Gloss Black.

The next-generation Jaguar XF will be available in both petrol and diesel engines. Make no mistake both engines are impressive in terms of power. First from the next generation, is the D200 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 147kW and 430Nm of torque. It will come with eight-speed automatic transmission.

Next, we have two petrol engine options on the new Jaguar XR. The first being the P250 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that will produce 183kW and 365Nm of torque. The range-topping petrol option is of course the all-powerful P300 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces a whopping 221kW and 400Nm of torque. Both petrol engine options will come with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

All engines will feature the latest engine technology which includes a twin-scroll turbocharger and Continuous Variable Valve Lift (CVVL) which gives a strong combination of refined performance and efficiency.

Now the interior of the new XF is perhaps the most upgraded section. The inside features a new and bolder cockpit design as well as a new sporty centre console. The new Jaguar XF will feature the next-generation Electronic Vehicle Architecture or EVA 2.0, which helps support a range of new technologies to ensure the future-ready vehicle is always connected and kept up to date. The new interior design will come with an integrated 11.4-inch curved-glass HD touchscreen, which accesses the latest Pivi Pro infotainment system.

The new interior design will come with an integrated 11.4-inch curved-glass HD touchscreen, which accesses the latest Pivi Pro infotainment system.

Pivi Pro connectivity is provided by the new embedded dual-sim technology with two LTE modems which enables the system to carry out multiple functions mutinously, such as streaming media and downloading the latest software updates. Downloading the latest software upgrades will be easier than ever as it features a new technology called Software-Over-The-Air (SOTA), which enables the driver to receive software updates for the vehicle without visiting the dealerships.

There is also a new 12.3-inch HD Interactive Driver Display, which helps drivers access vital information quickly. This new Interactive Driver Display comes with upgraded graphics and shows full-screen navigation mapping with turn-by-turn instructions, digital dials, media, contact list, or infotainment details.

Other exciting technology features include Active Road Noise Cancellation technology, this technology will constantly monitor the vibrations from the road surface and will calculate the opposite phase sound wave needed to cancel out the noise heard by the passengers. Jaguar’s ClearSight Interior Rear-View Mirror which gives the driver a clear view of the road behind them.

To further ensure that the Jaguar XF has nothing but the latest feature, it will also come with a second-generation wearable Activity Key which can be used to lock, unlock and start the vehicle without the need of the traditional key fob.

The new XF further benefits from the latest generation of driver assistance technology which includes Clear Exit Monitor, which will alert both front and rear passengers to the presence of an approaching car or cyclist when exiting the vehicle, in which the Adaptive Cruise Control will automatically maintain a set distance from the vehicle in front.

In terms of optional specification packs, customers will be able to choose from S, R-Dynamic SE, and R-Dynamic HSE. Also optional on all models is the Black Exterior Pack.

    Pricing

The new Jaguar XF is set to come out in the early quarter of 2021 in South Africa with pricing to be announced closer to the time.
