The new Audi S7 Sportback is now available in South Africa

The Audi S7 Sportback has been in production since 2011, it has since created quite a name for itself. It’s the type of vehicle that you get if you are you are undecided between a sporty wagon or a sedan. Earlier this year Audi released its latest generation A7 Sportback. The S7 will represent the new Audi design language, delivering the same progressive exterior look and technology.

The exterior of the Audi S7 Sportback gets a very distinctive and striking design. It really embraces a sportier look as it comes with a dynamically styled front trim, wide sills, and a rear diffuser that features four tailpipe trims. There are also distinguishable S trim elements in dark chrome and aluminium on the radiator grille lamellas, the front blade, the side air inlet, the exterior mirrors, and the rear diffuser. It comes with HD Matrix LED headlights and animated rear lights which are connected by a flat light strip. It will come standard with 21-inch wheels that are in an S-specific wheel design.

The Audi S7 Sportback will come with a 3.0 TFSI engine that produces 331kW of power and 600Nm of torque. This is all controlled via a tiptronic gearbox. It reaches a top speed of 250 km/h and acceleration is stated at 4.6 seconds. It will also feature a mild-hybrid system (MHEV) which helps improve fuel efficiency. The 48-volt MHEV system comprises a belt alternator starter (BAS) and a lithium-ion battery that has a capacity of 10 Ah. The BAS is connected to the crankshaft. During deceleration, it will be able to recover up to 8 kW of power. The MHEV technology will also allow for start/stop operation from a speed as low as 22 km/h.

The inside of the Audi S7 Sportback is as luxurious and sophisticated as one could expect from Audi. It comes with an extended range of standard equipment to ensure a comfortable interior. This includes the Audi virtual cockpit with a 12.3-inch display, MMI navigation plus, four-zone automatic air conditioning, HD touch displays with haptic feedback, contour ambient lighting with up to 30 colours, Audi phone box and smartphone interface, Bang and Olufsen premium sound system with 3D sound and a panoramic glass sunroof.

The upholstery on the seats further emphasizes its sporty presence. It features S sport seats with integrated head restraints, an embossed S logo, and a rhombus pattern. For additional comfort, Audi also offers multi-adjustable customized contour seats optionally with ventilation and massage. The standard seat upholstery will be available in Valcona leather with an embossed S logo and will come with a no-cost option to choose between a combination of leather and Alcantara or Valcona leather and Milano leather combination. Customers will also have a choice of the colours black, rotor grey and arras red. Other S-specific equipment details include a dedicated graphic layout of the standard-fit Audi virtual cockpit with rev counter flashed up centrally. The steering wheel with a flat-bottomed rim will be offered as a standard feature, while the footrest and pedal caps are in stainless steel.

As on every S model from Audi, quattro permanent all-wheel drive comes standard on the Audi S7 Sportback. In normal driving conditions, its self-locking centre differential distributes torque between the front and rear axle in a 40:60 ratio. For sports driving, there is wheel-selective torque control that enhances sporty handling. Also, as an option, there is dynamic all-wheel steering available.

The S sport suspension on the Audi S7 Sportback comes with damping control as a standard feature. It lowers the body of the vehicle by 10 millimetres. Adaptive air suspension – the air suspension version with adjustable damping – makes its appearance on the vehicle as an explicitly comfort-oriented alternative.

The driver will be allowed to configure the Audi drive select system to better suit their driving preference. The system will come with an S-specific setup and will offer a range of modes ranging from Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, Efficiency and Individual.

The Audi S7 TFSI Sportback quattro Tiptronic available for sale at all Audi Dealerships around South Africa and will come with a 5 year/100 000km Audi Freeway plan, inclusive of all taxes.
